Kajal use – Hair and nail hygiene & gargling

COLLYRIUM (KAJAL) USE

Regular use of collyrium (kajal) prepared of antimony particularly ‘Rasanjana’ in the night is good for the eyes. It should be applied once every week. It helps in lacrymation of the eyes. Collyrium also keeps the vision clear.

However, don’t use strong collyrium during the day time. Else, the eyes will be adversely affected under sunlight. This is more so the case as there would be drainage from the eyes.

HAIR AND NAIL HYGIENE

Ayurveda underlines the need for proper hygiene of hair and nails. Both must be regularly trimmed and kept clean. Ayurveda also stresses that beard including moustaches must be duly dressed and trimmed. Proper hygiene of hair and nail ensures a clean appearance and definitely boosts one’s appearance and adds to a positive personality. This, in turn, helps in keeping the mind fresh and clean as well. Moreover such regular hygienic habits improves ones’ libido, enhances longevity.

RESTRICTION IN CURD INTAKE AT NIGHT

One should never consume curd in night-time meals. If anyone takes curd at night, the blood circulation gets adversely affected. This leads to sleeplessness or disturbed sleep. In some cases, it even leads to flatulence (formation of gas in the stomach). People suffering from rheumatism, bronchitis and asthma should never have curd in supper.

However, curd taken during the daytime is a nourishing and wholesome meal.

GARGLING

Gargling sesame (til) oil is beneficial. Regular gargling of sesame oil improves voice tone, augments leaves a good taste in the mouth and strengthens the jaws. It also checks toothache, bad mouth breath, cracked lips and sore throat.
