Prostate enlargement is a condition that adversely affects the males. The prostate gland is a part of the male genital organ. It surrounds the urinary bladder outlet. The primary function of the prostate gland is to secrete the liquid that constitutes a major portion of the seminal fluid.
The Consequence
There is one main consequence of this ailment. The person will have problems in urination. The problem arises as the enlarged gland puts undue pressure on the bladder outlet. The direct result can be inability to urinate even though there may be the natural urination tendency.
Symptoms of Prostate gland Enlargement
The common symptom of this ailment is frequent urination during daytime and also in the night. The urine stream decreases in force and size. Moreover, the patient will not have a free flow of his urine; there would be a natural hesitation instinct while commencing urination. One may even feel a burning sensation while urinating. The patient should regularly consume asafoetida, ginger, garlic, milk, butter, and cow’s ghee.

Beware! The patient should never be given the following items: Any fried food and sour food products.
Other Regimens
- Quit sedentary habits. Assume a busy and active lifestyle. But, don’t do hard work.
- Never sit on a chair immediately after having meals. Assume the Vajrasana for at least 15 minutes. This helps digestion and solves constipation.
- Constipation is harmful for such patients. It precipitates the disease and the symptoms. Hence, clean the bowels daily. Ensure regular movement of the bowels. Make this the first job after rising from bed in the morning.
- Don’t be a late riser. Get up from bed before dawn; answer nature’s call and do the yogic exercises. Regularly practise the yogic pranayamas (controlled breathing exercises). Surya Namaskar postures and meditation are especially beneficial for such patients.
- Walk leisurely for approximately four kilometres daily. 6. Don’t suppress the urge for urination. Attend to it immediately.
Sexual Intercourse and Prostate Gland Enlargement
After prostate enlargement is diagnosed, don’t indulge in sexual intercourse.
In fact, excessive sexual intercourse is one of the primary causes of prostate enlargement. It leads to the abnormal enlargement of the prostate gland.

The most effective Ayurvedic medicines for curing prostate gland enlargement are Chandra prabha vati and Shilajit.
Chandra Prabha Vati
Actually, Chandra prabha vati is one of the most commonly used methods to use Shilajit. It can be procured in the tablet form. The patient should use this medication for a long time period to enjoy the benefits. The patient should use it for at least six months even after the prostate gland enlargement condition and the symptoms get cured. This obviates all chances of the disease recurring.
The dose: Two tablets mixed with milk should be consumed twice daily.
Shilajit
Shilajit generates heat within the body. Hence, patients living in cold climates can consume this medicine even thrice daily. However, those living in hot climates should consume smaller doses.
Shilajit is the most commonly prescribed drug for this condition. If one mixes it with milk, the heating effect is reduced while it boosts its aphrodisiac and rejuvenating effects.
