Ayurvedic Treatment for Urinary Tract Stones: According to Ayurveda, the stones in the urinary tract are formed due to predominance of vayu in the urinary tract. As a result, the body dries up. This, in turn, causes different chemicals to accumulate across a nucleus. These chemical accumulations ultimately constitute the stones of the urinary tract.
In extreme cases, such stones may fill up one or both the kidneys. This causes the kidneys to stop functioning totally.
Urinary Tract Stones: Prominent Symptoms
The lumbar region of the kidneys (located at the back side of the human body) is mainly affected. The patient experiences pain at that portion which gradually radiates to the genital organs.
The patient may suffer from several other symptoms. In some patients only one of these symptoms may appear while in others it may be a combination of more than one. These symptoms are painful urination; blood in urine; insomnia (sleeplessness); appetite loss; vomiting and/or fever.
The Uremia Syndrome
Uremia is a syndrome affecting the urinary tract. It takes place when the kidneys cannot function as they should. As a consequence thereof, the person concerned experiences problems in urinating. Even though there may be the tendency, yet the patient won’t be able to perform the act. This happens primarily because the urethra or the bladder (constituting vital components of the urinary tract) is blocked by stones or a portion of a stone. In such situations, the kidneys cannot excrete urine or excrete them in small quantities.
Dietary Regimen
What to eat: The patient mustn’t consume the following items: pulses, beans, Lady’s finger, Colocasia, and the yellow species of pumpkin.
What to consume: The patient should be, however, regularly given the white variety of pumpkin besides gourd. Drink lots of water. This helps the patient to urinate frequently? Moreover, it is a natural means of cleansing the urinary tract. Above all, this habit prevents stones formation in the urinary tract. Another positive aspect about this habit is that most of the smaller stones in the tract get dissolved or disintegrated. These sediments then pass out through the tract as sand or gravel.
Caution Notes
1.Address constipation. If required the patient should be tendered laxatives to ensure regular bowel movements. Constipation accentuates vayu which is again the main factor due to which stones are formed in the urinary tract.
2. Avoid sitting on hard cushions.
3. Don’t lie down, keep standing or sitting for long periods at a stretch.
4. After every hour of work, walk around. Then sit for some time on a soft cushion and stretch your back and legs.
5. In the post-meal (particularly supper) phase, assume the Vajrasana posture. Then walk slowly for about three minutes before sleeping.
6. After any heavy meal, wait for at least 30 minutes before drinking water.
7. Ensure that you fill only 50% of your tummy with food items. Fill the remaining portion with water.
