Chronic constipation is the cause of many ailments. It is of utmost necessity that constipation is cured at the earliest.
Certain ailments are closely associated with constipation. Mention may be made of tonsillitis, chronic cold, bronchitis, and asthma.
However, these diseases automatically disappear once constipation is cured.
Chronic constipation may also lead to fistula and piles.
WHY IS REGULAR BOWEL MOVEMENT IMPORTANT?
Regular bowel movement is essential because it passes stool. In other words, the stool comes out of the body as a result of the bowel movements. The stool contains not just roughage but also many metabolic and toxic waste products. These are produced by the blood. Hence, even if a person remains on a fasting, he/she should have a natural tendency to pass the stool. This is Nature’s novel method to purge the body of the waste products that get accumulated within the body as a result of the continuous metabolic process. Besides, these metabolic waste substances are passed out from the body only through stool.
CONSEQUENCES OF IRREGULAR BOWEL MOVEMENTS
Irregular bowel movements lead to discomfort. If this turns into a habit, it is called constipation. With time, it may turn chronic. Then, many ailments especially of the abdomen may result.
Besides the local discomfort in the abdomen, the patient may suffer from appetite loss, heaviness in the abdomen and flatulence or wind formation.
Other adjuncts of irregular bowel movement are insomnia (sleeplessness), and headache. In some instances, this condition may also cause high blood pressure.
CAUSES OF CHRONIC CONSTIPATION
Chronic constipation may be caused by one or a combination of two factors. One is the mechanical or paralytic obstruction blocking the passage via which the stool comes out. The other cause can be any of the following issues or a combination of those elements. These are emotional stress; spastic colitis; irritable colon; poor bowel habits; and unhygienic and improper eating habits.
ORGANIC CONSTIPATION
Constipation — particularly the one known as ‘Organic constipation‘ – can be caused by the inflammatory states of the rectum or the anus; anal suture (stitch); and bowel tumours.
CURING CONSTIPATION, NARTURALLY
Constipation can be naturally cured by drinking sugarcane juice. Besides, one can also regularly take the vegetables, surana and papaya, to contain constipation.
Include in the menu of such patients items like wheat instead of rice. However, the bran of both rice and wheat are beneficial for such patients.
The patients should consume whole rice and wheat along with their bran instead of their polished or refined varieties.
WHAT NOT TO EAT
However, such patients should never take any preparation of pulses, pulses and fried things.
THE NORMAL BOWEL MOVEMENT ROUTINE
The normal bowel movement routine is twice daily – in the morning after rising from sleep and then again in the evening. This routine applies to the vegetarians. This is because they consume quite a lot of roughage.
However, this routine should not be taken as a rule. The city dwellers or the non-vegetarians, for instance are comfortable answering nature’s call just once daily. The reasons are quite different in both the cases, though. The city dwellers generally make it a habit of moving their bowels early in the morning prior to moving out from their homes. Thereafter, their evening routine remains uncertain. With reference to the non-vegetarians, the reason is that they consume less of roughage, and more of non-vegetarian items which contain little roughage. They do feel discomfort even if the toxic waste materials stay put within their intestines for more than a day (24 hours). Another example is that of the European people. In most of the cases, the Europeans – living on non-vegetarian items – answer nature’s call once after four days. It is considered normal; what’s more, they are comfortable with this habit.
DIETARY REGIMEN
Dietary regimen Sugarcane is beneficial for patients suffering from chronic constipation. Such people should also regularly consume lots of fresh and raw leafy vegetables, fruits and fruit juice.
SPINACH, BANANA & PAPAYA: NATURAL MEDICATIONS FOR BOTH CONSTIPATION & DIARRHOEA
Yes! Spinach works both ways. Spinach relieves the constipation tendency.
On the other hand, patients suffering from chronic diarrhoea can also get relief from the syndrome if they regularly consume raw spinach as salad.
They can get the same double benefits also from banana and papaya.
OTHER POINTS TO REMEMBER
Stay away from all forms of tension and anxieties. These factors aggravate the constipation syndrome.
Enjoy a carefree happy life devoid of mental taxation.
Quit the habit of frequently consuming tea or coffee.
Say goodbye to the couch-potato lifestyle. Undertake physical activities. Daily walk a few kilometres to get relief from constipation.
Above all, daily attend to nature’s call at a particular time. This is irrespective of the fact as to whether you suffer from constipation or not. This is also in spite of the fact whether you have the motion or not. What matters is the habit! Mentally prepare yourself that there will be bowel movement each time. With time and regular practice, you will have clear motion at those times.
