Other important points

Posture correction tactics
Pay special attention to the manner in which the patient sits especially while reading, writing or doing any work on a table. The height and distance between the chair and table should be such that the patient can comfortably reach the table top. The back and the neck must remain straight. See that these two portions of the body do not bend at the table. In other words, the spine and the neck muscles should not feel any pressure.
Never read or write while lying down or while lying on the tummy on the bed or the floor.
Don’t resort to head bath if the Cervical Spondylosis pain is cute.
Quit the habit of sleeping on sponges or soft mattresses. Instead, choose a hard mattress.
Even while walking, walk straight with the shoulders straight, chest out, tummy tucked in and the head held high.
Learn to keep the lips closed when you are not talking. This obviates the possibilities of pollution affecting the lungs. Moreover, when you are conscious about your posture you will also be able to do the breathing or the Yogic pranayama exercises at various times of the day. Go on morning walks, but…
Make morning walk a habit. It gives considerable relief to the patient suffering from this condition.
However, don’t venture outside if the weather is too cold.
In cold weather or climate, always don a woollen scarf around the neck.
Don’t do neck exercises
Many resort to neck exercises under the false impression that the pain may be due to muscle cramps. Beware! Such forced pressure on the neck also has adverse effects on the already weak spine and its vertebrae. The symptoms and the condition would only accentuate. Hence, it is always advisable to consult the doctor prior to resorting to any exercises by patients suffering from Cervical Spondylosis.
Hot fomentation gives relief from cervical spondylosis pain
Patients suffering from Cervical Spondylosis should regularly resort to hot fomentation of the affected portions. The fomentation is applied for at least 30 minutes. Don’t expose the fomented portion to cold after the process. Keep it warm with a cotton cloth in the summer season. This is more so the case especially in the winter season. Cover the portion with a woollen garment.
The fomentation should not be too hot. Else, it may cause burns.
Fomentation is taken before bedtime. This is the ideal time as the patient can immediately go to bed. It ensures that the fomented portion is not exposed to cold.
In some cases, due to the pressure from the nervous system anaesthetic patches develop in the back, neck, shoulders and the arms. Then, the patient may not feel the heat of the fomentation. Hence, the patient can be the best judge about the quantum of heat required in the fomentation. Hence, it is advisable for the patient to first examine the heat of the fomentation
The fomentation is applied over the neck.
Formentation preparation process: Take a large hanky. Put 500 gm of salt in it and tie the salt with the handkerchief. Keep it over a frying pan till it becomes hot. Once it becomes hot, the fomentation is ready for use.
