Established in 1902 by visionary physician Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier, AVS has grown into a multi-functional organization with a global vision.

A Legacy of Healing

AVS started as a village clinic in Kottakkal, Kerala. It has now expanded into a multi-unit organization with medicine manufacturing units, branch clinics, research centers, a charitable hospital, and more. The foundation of AVS lies in providing help and solace to the weak. The true practice of Ayurveda involves a holistic lifestyle where individuals are in harmony with themselves and their surroundings.

Extensive Facilities

AVS has three medicine manufacturing units in Kottakkal, Kanjikode, and Nanjangud. These units produce over 550 classical and new generation formulations. Medical consultations and authentic medicines are available through 27 branches and around 2000 authorized dealers nationwide. The Ayurvedic Hospital & Research Centres in Kottakkal, Kochi, and Delhi offer classical Panchakarma and other Kerala treatments.

Charitable Hospital and Research

The charitable hospital in Kottakkal provides Ayurvedic and allopathic treatments, medicines, accommodation, and food free of cost to deserving patients. Clinical research focuses on cancer and new drug development. The Research & Development Department modernizes production and quality control of Ayurvedic drugs. The Centre for Medicinal Plants Research (CMPR) conducts research on medicinal plants.

Educational and Cultural Contributions

AVS supports Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier Ayurveda College, offering graduate and postgraduate courses in Ayurveda. The institution also engages in academic activities like annual Ayurveda seminars and competitions. P.S.V. Natyasangham, the Kathakali troupe initiated by the founder, stages performances in India and abroad.
